Career Counseling - A Vital Part

' If a man hasn't discovered something that he would die for, he isn't fit to live.'  Martin Luther King Jr.

Background And The Story:

When a Child is born, Parents wish that he will be a gud Architect, He will help the humanity and be a Doctor or he will be an Engineer! ..... the Wishlist use to be Endless :) The Child is Forced and Tend to be inducted in the respective Field.

Now you people must be thinking that I am going to tell you the Story of 3 Idiots Movie ... Nah nah! My Story is somewat typically different :), Where I was given Full Autonomy for the choice of Career by my sweet Parents :) It starts when my Uncle asked me "Beta Badey ho kar kiya bano ge ??? " and I replied Innocently "Pilot!" (A traditional reply :| ). But in actual I was engaged in Learning and Experiencing different Computer Applications particularly Animations, Database , lil bit of Programming etc (My Unknown Interest)... The days were passing fine while learning Applications, but one day my Parents got me admitted in Cadet College Petaro after 7th, which must have lead me towards The Forces Side Offcource... but not in Air Force! Why not? ...  My Father had the same Question... Wat could I do! If I didn't mantain my 6/6 vision, which made me disable for GDP Pilot! Nevertheless, My House Master insisted me for taking ISSB for Navy :S ... So I took ISSB! But how could I have passed if I was not intrested in that at all.

Meanwhile, Petarian Management arranged a Career Counseling Session which changed the Aim of my Life. There we heard many professionals amongst which one of them was a well-suited, Smart,Dashing and inspiring personality who was a 'Chartered Accountant'. When he spoke I was more Inpired by the monetary rewards CA offers! Plus being a Challenging task I was bound to think about the Profession. At the Same time my nearby Sitting Friend agreed for the same n told about his brother doing his well in UK in the same profession. He Pushed me more saying that being a Position Holder you are the right person for CA. At that moment I didn't Consider that I was the President of Computer Club in Petaro, as rumours in those days was very common that Software Engineering has no Scope in Pak! For Icing on the Cake My Teachers also Supported for CA, What was next how could an Obedient Student would have denied! I went for it :)

As the time passed, I passed out from CCP and Got admission in Tabani's School of Accountancy (TSA) for CA. Alhamdulillah being an average student of CA I passed CA-Intermediate and got admitted in  Deloitte as a Trainee Auditor. It was the fate or what! when I was sent Multan on my very First Audit where I realized the Fact that I had never forgotten Programming skills yet! and started working on small Business Accounting Application on VB.net in my leisure (Thanks to my room-mate who Introduced me VB.net just the night before leaving for Multan) Wow! I was Progressing and on the way of Development --- Those were the most Happiest days of my Life --- I could have been called a Multi-Skilled person --- The Time passed and I also developed a Time Office module for TATA Textile Mills ltd. (Though couldn't sell them as they have got their In-House MIS :)

Now I Go to Office Daily as an Auditor and Try to take some time out in the evening for Software Development (Self-Employment). Inshort, Engaged in Day-Night Duty :)

The Mystery:
When I go through the Past Phases of my Life, I believe that
"Whatever Happen to You, Happens For a Reason"
(Considering the above facts, very true Saying)

Though It was my Luck that I was Blessed by both the great Fields. Now Standing and predicting Future, I came to Know that Software development & Chartered Accountacy is a Rare Combination and got a great market worth! No Doubt Software development is my Interest and if I would have continued with the same without interruption I could have Mastered the Field in no Time.

I agree that My Career was not planned towards the goal infact i didn't know the Goal of my Life... This is the point which lead me to write the Blog n Focus on the Career Counseling as the Vital Part of Life.

Nowadays, I see Youngsters commensurate their Career with the monetary aspects while choosing a career which infact is a wrong Concept Because If you are really interested & dedicated towards your respective Career/Studies then the Success will come to your own way which will ultimately result in a Rich Personality. One must work According to the Interests as:

A Nice Quote Suggests:
' I've learned that whatever I love to do, I do well.'

Do's for Better Career:

  1. The very first Counseling comes from the part of Parents who must set up their children Mind for the future
  2. Behaviour & Attitude of the Individual towards the Studies.
  3. Better Analysis of the Alternative Careers.
  4. Analysing In-born Skills and the Learned Skills.
  5. Analysing the Interest in Career, You love to adopt.
  6. Conforming to the requirements of Selected Career.
  7. Exposing the Leadership qualities hidden inside YOU!
Don'ts to Start a Healty Career:
  1. Considering More over Monetary rewards when choosing the Career.
  2. Majority of Students depend on their friends in Selecting the same Career adopted by his/her friend
  3. Absence of Emotions, Interest , Excitement about the Career.
  4. Wasting time in abusing Technology instead of gaining something fruitful like Self-Career Counseling
  5. Carefree Attitude.
Final Words:
The Above Points are extracted from my own Experiece may cause halpful to many. Purpose for the Blog was to make Youngsters learn from the mistakes which I commited. Though I was Lucky Enough that Combination of both fields suits me well.

Right Now I am engaged in DUAL fields which definitely requires Hard work n dedication to mantain the same. Requisite of your prayers in this regard n WISH ME BEST OF LUCK for the Same :)
Thanks

dont want to bore people with my story
but sm how ive managed to create my interest in da field im currently in n it took me ages to do so....
wht i feel da basic problem is inefficient or no career counseling which leads us to disastorous decisions.
so we must follow where we enjoy learning or doing regardless of wht it pays n wht will ppl say otherwise u'll end up regretting for your whole life
